Ahh, the joys of Interim break! I sat down at my computer at midnight and here I am, four hours later, with little to show for it except a few changes to my blog’s look. I updated the template to this new cool one called K2. I learned all about K2 and how to customize it. I made myself a series of header images from pictures I took last summer (mostly). I have them randomized, so if you refresh enough times you may get a new one. Let me know what you think. Next tasks: a flikr/gallery photo thingy on the side (take that, xanga!) and a few more cool tabs across the top (for my photo gallery site, my metikos.com blog, and maybe a few other things…). I guess it’s time to go to bed before I can’t sleep at all.

Well, summer is nearly to a close for me. I dropped my family off at the airport on Saturday; they wind their way back to the DR over the next few days, with a brief visit to New Jersey. My dear sisters parted to Goshen and Honduras on Friday. I already miss my family.
On Saturday, I drove back to Holland and picked all my stuff up. Then I went to Emma’s birthday at Camp Geneva (the daughter of Curt and Kristin, my house mentors from last year). It was fun to hang out with most of the Koinonians. And so I moved back to Grand Rapids. I’m staying with Peter for a few weeks, until I can move into my new house.
And on a whole nother topic, I have developed a serious case of PowerBook envy. I’m sitting in Melinda’s dorm room with her brand new Apple PowerBook G4. I thought I had innoculated myself of any laptop envy until the end of this school year, when I might buy one. And I think I will buy an Apple PowerBook. They’re just too cute and powerful! But no, I musn’t covet. I’ll hold firm and enjoy my own computer, the work of my hands, for this year. And save up for the price of a new PowerBook: starting at $1400.
People have been bugging me about not posting for a long time. I’m sorry – I’ve been busy with papers and work for school. But that is not excuse enough, because last night, in the midst of finals, I found time to redesign my blog template. I used a recent award-winning theme by Patricia Muller called Connections. Then I edited the header picture to include a photo I took of a Greek dictionary with the definition of metikos, and overlaid a logo/font that my sister Sarah Zwier designed. I also changed all the fonts to sans-serif versions, edited some of the links, added a Creative Commons license, and made an “about the author” page. What’s missing? A page that explains the meaning of “metikos” and describes my target niche.
But enough about the technical aspects. A new design requires new content. Let me get on to more important things!
