August Doldrums

Well, summer is nearly to a close for me. I dropped my family off at the airport on Saturday; they wind their way back to the DR over the next few days, with a brief visit to New Jersey. My dear sisters parted to Goshen and Honduras on Friday. I already miss my family.

On Saturday, I drove back to Holland and picked all my stuff up. Then I went to Emma’s birthday at Camp Geneva (the daughter of Curt and Kristin, my house mentors from last year). It was fun to hang out with most of the Koinonians. And so I moved back to Grand Rapids. I’m staying with Peter for a few weeks, until I can move into my new house.

And on a whole nother topic, I have developed a serious case of PowerBook envy. I’m sitting in Melinda’s dorm room with her brand new Apple PowerBook G4. I thought I had innoculated myself of any laptop envy until the end of this school year, when I might buy one. And I think I will buy an Apple PowerBook. They’re just too cute and powerful! But no, I musn’t covet. I’ll hold firm and enjoy my own computer, the work of my hands, for this year. And save up for the price of a new PowerBook: starting at $1400.
